Providing Prevention Response & Recovery for Animal Emergencies

Dr. Richard Willner

Dr. Dennis Thibeault

Dr. Rich Willner is the owner of Stonington Veterinary Hospital, a small animal practice, since 1995 when he purchased it after working there for 9 years. He is a 1984 graduate of Michigan State University. He is a native of southeastern Connecticut and a Ledyard High School graduate.

Dr. Willner is a past president of the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association and in mid 2011 became involved in the CT Animal Response Team Region 4. The primary reason he became involved is that he lives near the shore and was evacuated in 2010 due to floods, but there were no provisions for pets at that time. Recognizing that southeastern CT is one of the most vulnerable areas, he felt he wanted to try to make a difference.

Dr. Willner is married and has one son attending college. He grew up in Ledyard showing hunters and jumpers for several years. He currently has 2 Labradors Retrievers and 1 cat. His younger Lab is being shown in obedience and participates in agility and field work. Dr Willner has been a long time member and past president of The Rotary Club of the Stoningtons. His hobbies are golf, hiking (especially in the Alps) and working with his dog.
